Sounds a bit weird or strange, but the trend of construction homes with shipping containers is really getting hot. All around, people are finding that if you treat these big metal boxes like an opportunity instead of a challenge — idiosyncracies and all — they make pretty cool (and quite comfortable) homes. You wake up in the morning and you can hear birds outside your window. Fresh air fills your nostrils, the lake just sprawls before you. Well, that is what this shipping container lake house absolutely feels like! The best place to hit up this summer and chill by the water. So much so that some people might even want to live in it all year round because it seems like such a peaceful and friendly place.
Our Lake House AdventureWe started our adventure by deciding where to put the lake prefab tiny house. We wanted something by the water with a beautiful view. Considering we found ourselves in Nature, after much contemplation–we discovered a quiet and beautiful little spot. It was time to bring in the shipping container and begin the work of creating this cozy space for everyone
But it got cozy only if we made holes in it, cutting windows and doors. This, in turn, will technically mean that natural sunlight can stream through and brighten the space. There is a living room space with chairs, perfect for reading or playing games with family and friends.
In using the space to provide both a small kitchenette area for any prep (and private fridge — one of five in our home) and living. This offers a beautiful setting for dinner overlooking the lake. The other major change was the addition of a shower room with toilet allowing everyone to get cleaned up after a hard day on or in the water. To make things even better, we also constructed a nice deck off the back for sitting and taking in the beauty surrounding you!
